Activity Key: Pegs

How did we do with it? Well - before I get completely carried away with a debrief...let's give you the answer key and let you master the .linear version.

[L5]        [L4]        [L3]       [L2]        [L1]           O        [R1]        [R2]        [R3]        [R4]        [R5]

Before I give you the all out answer key...here are two hints first.

Hint #1 : (it's more like a riddle) Once you come to a place where you're looking at someone going the opposite direction as you with the free space in between you - it is the person who HASN'T gone that goes first.

Hint #2: (And this one will help nearly everyone solve the puzzle) - Once you have made your first move, you cannot be standing next to someone going the same direction as you. (R's cannot be standing next to Rs, Ls cannot be standing next to Ls)

Answer Key
I'll go through this step-by-step. If you're still having trouble with it - please drop me a comment and I'll clarify. I'll use the numbers that correspond to the set-up just below:

STARTING SET UP:
[L5]        [L4]        [L3]       [L2]        [L1]           O        [R1]        [R2]        [R3]        [R4]        [R5]
STEP 1:
[L5]        [L4]        [L3]       [L2]        O           [L1]        [R1]        [R2]        [R3]        [R4]        [R5]

STEP 2:

STEP 5:
[L5]        [L4]        [L3]        O        [R1]           [L2]         [R2]         [L1]          [R3]        [R4]        [R5]

STEP 6:
[L5]        [L4]         O      [L3]        [R1]           [L2]         [R2]         [L1]          [R3]        [R4]        [R5]

STEP 7:
[L5]        [L4]         [R1]      [L3]          O         [L2]         [R2]         [L1]          [R3]        [R4]        [R5]

STEP 8:
[L5]        [L4]         [R1]      [L3]         [R2]         [L2]          O        [L1]          [R3]        [R4]        [R5]

STEP 9:
[L5]        [L4]         [R1]      [L3]         [R2]         [L2]          [R3]        [L1]        O          [R4]       [R5]

STEP 10:
[L5]        [L4]         [R1]      [L3]         [R2]         [L2]          [R3]        [L1]        [R4]        O          [R5]

STEP 11:
[L5]        [L4]         [R1]      [L3]         [R2]         [L2]          [R3]         O        [R4]       [L1]          [R5]

STEP 12:
[L5]        [L4]         [R1]      [L3]         [R2]          O         [R3]         [L2]        [R4]       [L1]          [R5]

STEP 13:
[L5]        [L4]         [R1]        O        [R2]          [L3]        [R3]         [L2]        [R4]       [L1]         [R5]

STEP 14:
[L5]        O         [R1]         [L4]       [R2]          [L3]        [R3]         [L2]        [R4]       [L1]         [R5]

STEP 15:
  O       [L5]        [R1]         [L4]       [R2]          [L3]        [R3]         [L2]        [R4]       [L1]        [R5]

STEP 16:
  [R1]       [L5]        O         [L4]       [R2]          [L3]        [R3]         [L2]        [R4]       [L1]         [R5]

STEP 17:
  [R1]       [L5]        [R2]        [L4]         O         [L3]        [R3]         [L2]        [R4]       [L1]         [R5]

STEP 18:
  [R1]       [L5]        [R2]        [L4]         [R3]        [L3]        O          [L2]        [R4]       [L1]         [R5]

STEP 19:
  [R1]       [L5]        [R2]        [L4]         [R3]        [L3]        [R4]         [L2]       O         [L1]        [R5]

STEP 20:
  [R1]       [L5]        [R2]        [L4]         [R3]        [L3]        [R4]         [L2]       [R5]       [L1]         O

STEP 21:
  [R1]       [L5]        [R2]        [L4]         [R3]        [L3]        [R4]         [L2]       [R5]          O      [L1]

Do you get the idea yet? At this point it's a simple weave it through. L2, L3, L4, and L5 all follow through moving into the free space until they cannot move any more...R's will do the same when the free space comes available. Once L5 has settled on his spot, it's the R's turn. Your finished product should like up like this:

[R1]        [R2]        [R3]       [R4]        [R5]           O        [L5]        [L4]        [L3]        [L2]        [L1]

Drop me a comment if you need the rest of the steps past #21. There are about 6 more moves before the activity looks like the one just above. I'll be back for the debrief in a couple days.
